Mission
The mission of the Association of Writers and Poets "Desanka Maksimovic" is to foster the professional development of poets and writers, to promote communication throughout the Serbian literary community, and to help create an environment in which literature can be appreciated by the widest possible public.
Activities of the Association include poetry readings, book presentations of writers who live here in Canada, as well as guest writers from Serbia, and evenings in memory of celebrated Serbian writers.
The members of the Association of Writers and Poets "Desanka Maksimovic" publish their poetry and fiction in many literary magazines, collections and anthologies, mostly in Serbia. Also, the books of many members have been translated in English, and some of the poets write in both languages, English and Serbian.
The Association of Writers and Poets "Desanka Maksimovic" utilizes new media technology to make our resources available on the Internet. The online services offer immediate access to a wealth of topical information; our website serves as a user-friendly vehicle for the exchange of ideas by providing a central meeting place for writers
